Healthily (Previously Your.MD) leads the way in health tech with one of the world’s most advanced symptom checkers (DOT) powered by AI. Delivered via an ecosystem consisting of B2B and direct to consumer products, Healthily grew from a free MVP symptom checker to an online portal with tens of millions of MAUs, an award winning mobile application and an API used by insurers and pharmaceutical companies alike.

Problem Statement

Transition a free basic symptom checker with low usage into a global health tech ecosystem to drive revenue and support a long term product vision and business strategy.

Ideation

When I joined Healthily, the sole product, Your.MD symptom checker, offered basic health information but lacked a clear monetisation strategy and market value. It was limited in scope, focusing solely on symptom checking, with no clear path for scaling or diversifying revenue.

I was brought in to lead the transformation of both product and business strategy. We rebranded from Your.MD to Healthily, expanding the product into a comprehensive health platform targeting B2B, B2C, and broader health solutions. This involved adding personalised health guidance, preventative care tools, and partnerships with health providers, creating new revenue streams through corporate wellness programmes, consumer subscriptions, and strategic collaborations. I oversaw company strategy, the rebrand, and product and design teams.

 Extensive discovery, using the How, Now, Wow framework, drove experimentation and pivots during COVID, for which we won an award. The mobile app allowed us to test various features, such as the DOT symptom checker (now a D2C and B2B product), while others, like the back pain hub, were sunset after testing showed insufficient traction.

Validation

Healthily’s research and Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD) surveys were key in validating its approach, revealing user needs and pain points. These insights highlighted strong demand for accessible, personalised health solutions, aligning with Healthily’s vision. This validation enabled the company to secure major partnerships, including with Walmart, which have driven growth, opened new revenue streams, and expanded market presence. The success of these partnerships reflects Healthily’s research-driven strategy and its ability to meet the needs of both consumers and corporate partners.

🏆 Award

When COVID hit, we faced several challenges: we were in the middle of fundraising with Reckitt, transitioning to a fully remote workforce, and, as a medical product, needed to address COVID. Instead of focusing on virus information (which Google penalised), we conducted lean research and found users wanted tips on cooking simple meals and staying fit during lockdown. We quickly developed the ‘Daily Drop In’ product, which won the Illumi Award for Innovation from UserTesting.com.
